What to expect from my bridal appointment + few tips from our founder
Today, we chat with Beatriz, one of Agapi-mu’s founders, about how brides-to-be can make the most of their appointments. “Many brides are nervous about the 90 minutes appointment time, but they shouldn’t be! You can realistically try on 5-8 bridal gowns in that time frame. Including taking a second look at your top picks.”
Read more to see what you can expect from a typical Agapi-mu bridal appointment, along with some helpful tips from Beatriz.
Tip 1: Your Agapi-mu experience begins before you ever step foot in the shop. “Before coming to the appointment view our website and social media to list the bridal gowns you are interested in trying on. Also, you can bring inspirational pictures or info about the venue and the theme. This will help us to get the most out of the appointment!”
10:30 am Beatriz and/or Cristina, our founders and designers, will meet you and your guests in the gown gallery. The appointment will start with a chat about your favorite bridal dresses and what you are looking for. We will have some refreshments while talking to you and your guests about your ideas and how are you planning your wedding.
Tip 2: Keep in mind that most of pop-up spaces can only fit 3 to 5 people. “We prefer to keep it cozy and make sure you just have the people that know you best and will give you the most honest advise. In our experience, the close family, such as you mother, sisters and aunties are the best counselors!”.
10:40 am It’s time to head to the fitting room! The bridal dresses are delicate, expensive, and can be complex to put on, so your stylist will help you into each one. Make sure to bring undergarments that flatters you and you are comfortable wearing in front of her. “That one-on-one time between the bride and us is so important, to better understand how you feel. Our number one goal is always to be the bride’s confidante, cheerleader and overall, to help you find the dress or your dreams!”
Tip 3: “Bring nude or light underwear that flatters you to avoid visible underwear lines or see-through effects.” During the appointment we will recommend you the best underwear for your big day.
Tip 4. Samples are different sizes. That way, every bride can see herself on at least one dress of her size. If that’s not your dress, don’t worry! We will adjust our dress to fit great. You’ll be able to get a good idea of what the dress will look like in your size!
11:40 am Take a second look. “After you’ve tried on every gown, we will help you to recognise your favourite one. By this time you will probably be quite sure already! We will go back to your favourites bridal dresses and style them for you. This is when we will add a veil or a sash or some jewelry to help you visualize the complete look.”
11:50 am You found your gown and everyone cheers! Now it’s time to talk measurements. “We will recommend a size based on your largest measurement and tell you what alterations you can expect to make. You will be surprised that one the dress is the right size, it would require minimum alterations for a perfect fitting.” In each of our pop-up locations we work with experienced tailors that will ensure your dress looks perfect on your big day!
Tip 5. You are free to decide when you want to start the alterations process, even though we recommend to wait until 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding. We want our brides to have the flexibility, so you can decide whether you want to come to the tailor or your prefer the tailor coming to you!
12:00 pm Congratulations!! You have already decided and is time to order your dress. We are always delighted having new brides becoming Agapi-mu’s brides!!
If you still need some time to make the decision, it’s completely normal. We will keep all of your measurements and size recommendations on file, so you can call & order whenever you are ready.”
